Paw in Hand musings

I have decided to write a blog to bring more light on what I do as an animal and nature communicator by sharing some of my conversations, thoughts and experiences. I was looking for a general name and asked my animal guides for some help. I immediately felt this soft black paw resting on my right hand and heard the words “let’s do this together”. I knew it was our lovely Black Lab Tosca who is in spirit and an important guide to me. She is a teacher and companion in my “musings” hence the title of this blog.

I was going to write a first blog on a conversation I had had with a horse a couple of months ago but it turns out this took a totally different direction as I leaned back and allowed Tosca to guide me. It was clear that she wanted me to write about animals in spirit – a topic that touches everyone of us who has had to say “goodbye” to a beloved animal. It is never easy, it never becomes easy and grief is an important part of it. I truly believe that we need to grieve our animals and allow ourselves to do so.

Animal communication however has really helped me and has meant I have been able to help others too in these difficult times.

Tosca and Pamina were our very first dogs as a family and grew up with our children; Pamina – an Irish Setter was the diva of the family, making us smile and laugh whenever we needed to; she kept her youthful enthusiasm throughout her whole life. Tosca – a Black lab- was a stray when we found her and became the family “nanny”. Nana Tosca was always there to watch over everyone, comfort whomever needed it and was just that solid companion. They both travelled the world with us, moving on average every two years but wherever they were, we were home.

Tosca passed away first, followed within 6 months by Pamina. Those were obviously difficult times for all of us and I will not deny that. Tosca has obviously decided that I am to write about this topic because she believes it can help others going through this transition.

So how do I communicate with her in spirit? I believe that it is a soul to soul connection and set my intention to communicate with her at a soul level. The power of intention is huge and I can feel her coming into my mind. There are different ways of receiving information from animals; for me, they are often just conversations in my mind just as if I were speaking to a human; sometimes images and very often I get overwhelming feelings; in this case, a huge feeling of love coming from her.

I have often struggled with the way she left us and not being able to bring her home from the vet clinic. What I have learned however from her and from clients’ animals is that this is totally insignificant. In fact, they will often brush off these questions and move onto happy memories or messages they absolutely want their people to receive. It is a blessing to me to think that I can help animals in spirit reach out to their people and send them messages to help and comfort them. They are totally forgiving and are beings of light, filled with love. It is also helpful for their humans to express what they feel about their animals who have transitioned whether it is deep sadness, feeling of loss, regret, guilt, or love. Knowing that your animal can hear this is very healing!

What the animals want us to remember is that they are never far and continue to be our companions in spirit. They love to send us signs and reminders, not always when we expect them. These can be very clear or much more subtle. Irish Setters are not very common nowdays but when Pamina left us, we saw so many Irish Setters on the streets of San Francisco, it was uncanny! Tosca likes to remind me that she is never far by making sure I feel her presence right next to me; if I close my eyes and quiet my mind, I can feel her right there lying down to the right of my feet. Last month, I got an “out of the blue” reminder of them. An email arrived titled “Don’t forget Tosca and Pamina”; it was from a vet I had used twice about 6 years ago. I had never had any online interaction with them but they were obviously updating their online services.  I smiled all day!! I knew Tosca and Pamina wanted to send a CLEAR reminder that they are never far…. Paw in hand…
